Globalising OpenupEd

OpenupEd already offered more than 170 MOOCS in 11 different languages. They reflect values like openness, equity, quality and diversity. Until now OpenupEd partnership is based in many European countries and some countries outside Europe. Recently we started to explore the possibility to create OpenupEd alikes in other regions around the globe. They could show basic similarity in intention and approach with the European OpenupEd MOOCs initiative but with a flavour and profile that is specific for the region.

This has led to a collaborative effort of EADTU and UNESCO with respectively ACDE in Africa and AAOU in Asia to organise high-level executive workshops in conjunction with their annual conferences in order to develop an adequate and rewarding way forward.  A 'Globalising OpenupEd Workshop' is scheduled to take place on Saturday 7 June 2014 as a special break-away meeting of the Vice Chancellors during the 4th ACDE Conference and General Assembly in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. On 12 June we will organise a web conference "Opening up Education and MOOCs for Open Universities" together with the AAOU.
