This open course provides an opportunity to learn about and explore the potential of the school library in the development of literacy, especially in its articulation with the classroom context. How can the school library support reading? What strategies can be used to develop competences in the areas of information literacy and media literacy?
The course is mainly aimed at education professionals, especially teachers in different curricular areas. But it is also of interest to public librarians and all those who are interested in educational issues.
In this course you will:
- Recognize the value of new modes of learning and curriculum integration associated with training for literacies;
- Analyze the role of the school library in the development of literacy in an educational context;
- Discuss issues related to reading in its various aspects;
- Recognize the existence of different approaches and techniques for developing information literacy and media literacy.
