Introduction to Game Theory
Description
Game theory is the study of mathematical models that involve stakeholders with
different interests. In zero-sum (antagonistic) games, the interests are totally
conflicting. In contrast, non-zero- sum games describe the situation where
interests are not completely opposed. This eight-week course covers fundamentals
of game theory.
Participants will be able to define the concepts of matrix and player strategy,
explain the concept of mixed strategy that emerges when the game is repeated.
They will learn the concept of equilibrium and its importance in the game, and
define the Nash equilibrium. They will develop understanding of the popular
minimax theorem, methods of solutions, and solutions of some sample games.
