Business intelligence and Big Data are two of the mainstays of the current technological revolution. The amount of data generated by the information society is growing day by day, and will continue to grow due to the explosion of social networks, smart cities, massive data, mobile devices, sensors , etc. This exponential increase in the volume of data makes it essential to use systems that are capable of analyzing them and converting them into useful information. For this reason, our society, our companies and institutions need to integrate intelligence within the organizational and decision processes, and this implies incorporating business analytics or smart data tools. The fourth edition of this course, taught by Masters in Business Intelligence and Big Data, and the Master's Degree in Data Science, presents an introduction to these tools, the main associated methodologies and current trends within this area.

Business intelligence y Big Data son dos de los principales puntales de la actual revolución tecnológica. La cantidad de datos generados por la sociedad de la información crece día a día, y continuará creciendo debido a la explosión de las redes sociales, las ciudades inteligentes (Smart Cities), los datos masivos (Big Data), los dispositivos móviles, los sensores, etc. Este incremento exponencial del volumen de datos hace imprescindible el uso de sistemas que sean capaces de analizarlos y convertirlos en información útil. Por este motivo, nuestra sociedad, nuestras empresas e instituciones necesitan integrar inteligencia dentro de los procesos organizativos y de decisión, y esto implica incorporar herramientas de business analytics o smart data. La cuarta edición de este curso, impartido por profesores del Máster en Business Intelligence y Big Data, y del Máster Universitario en Data Science, presenta una introducción a estas herramientas, las metodologías principales asociadas y las tendencias actuales dentro de esta área.
